A resident in West Sussex, 58 -year-old, British-born, Albert Williams, of Dominican parentage, has announced that he is working on his 6th publication: My Windrush Story – the narrative of the life of Albert Williams (Written by Himself)
A different experience

This publication, which also will be accompanied by a website and mini-documentary will be unlike anything published on the subject of the Windrush generation thus far. The author, who has five previous publications, spent 32 years in Dominica before returning to the UK in 2004. He said, “my Windrush experience is markedly different from most stories that you’ll read about,” he reiterated adding that, “unlike 2nd generation of West Indians, many who have never visited their ancestral homeland, and during the Windrush Scandal, found themselves deported to various West Indian islands under severe circumstances. ” Williams says that the time he spent in Dominica was beneficial for his own character building and for ‘getting to know my roots.’
“My windrush experience is markedly different from most stories that you’ll read about.”
My Windrush Story – the narrative of the life of Albert Williams (Written by Himself) will be divided into three sections: “This is a great assignment for me'”he says, “it is an opportunity to throw all my experiences, resources, and skills at the project, that I’ve learned during my first 10 years in the UK, 32 years in Dominica, and 16 years since my return to the UK.
Decolonising the mind
Williams also says that much of the colonial history research that he has conducted in 2020 will inform this latestest publication in light of the on-going Black Lives Matter protests. He also contends that this project may help the Windrush generation understand more holistically their West Indian heritage alongside their Britishness.
